Shaastra is officially over, a huge festival, an amazing congregation of technical cultures.. It was such an enriching experience, so many events, so much of fun, so many department open houses, so many fantastic stalls and the great responsibility of being a volunteer..
Volunteering for the only student managed ISO certified event in the whole world is no mean job.. Its a tough ask, printing revised schedules every fifteen minutes, and getting thousands and thousands of newsletters, question papers, design papers et cetera for four continuous days, that too being in the production volunteering department.. Its an experience of a lifetime.. The waking up at 5.30 in the morning for the xeroxes.. The sleeping at 2.30 after the quizzes get over in the night, well knowing that you will be woken up at 5.30 next morning.. The jaw-dropping laser show, a complete game of lights, organised with some scintillating music demonstrated in the Open Air Theatre.. The robotics show done by people from the NUS, which presented the world's best robot Manus.. The Rubik's cube international championship which had the international Rubik's cube world champion 12 year old Indian kid Bennett Orlando participating and making second and third year guys kick ass... The robotics competetion where robots were made with amazing expertise and took part in races in Fire n Ice, scanned libraries, gripped substances with a twistable hand and the so... The contraptions which was a slight cup, but though was an amazing experience.. The every morning rides to the hospi desk to deposit newsletters and schedules.. The great SOE Projects- an awesome ornithopter, a self balancing bicycle, want to fly and stuff like that... The amazingly done SMQ, and an equally competitive HTW.. The best part of the SMQ was the going into the nights part.. And the many many amazing events..
Baby and I qualified the first round of Math Modelling but cupped round 2 badly.. Integral Bee could have been my field event, if I hadn't floored it with some slow thinking... I finally atleast got a certificate to show from Shaastra..
Now that this is over, the next concentration is on the quizzes next week, and the Inter IIT, not to forget Saarang 2009.. All of this put together are the sole aims of all IITM students right now.. I got to somehow make up for my fitness on the field, if I have to make it to the inter IIT cricket team... I have drawn a lot of inspiration from seniors like Ayush and Vignesh Shenoy, multitaskers... Ayush is an 8 pointer, Shaastra core, insti cricket captain, an NGO helper and wat not!! Vignesh is a 9 pointer, insti cricket vice captain, stud quizzer among the best in insti, and a very nice guy to b wit as well... Its such a great feeling to have people like these around you, inspiring you to achieve more and more, and that's wat my aim for the future is...
Finally I have done a full post on IITM, and my next post will be coming up very soon... Till then, adios..
Ever yours,
GV/Chappli...
